I am Diesha Contee
I am a proud resident of Ward 6 and and ready to serve as your next alderwoman. I am running for city council because I am a resident who wants to bring change. I have been a strong pillar in our community advocating, educating, and assisting families for 9 years. I care about making everyone's voices heard and felt.
My Story
I'm a native Annapolitan, born and raised right here in the community I love. As a kid, I spent my days at the Boys & Girls Club, where education and recreation played a huge part in shaping who I am today.
When I became a teenager, I wanted to be a nurse, so I went through CAT South and completed the Nursing Assistant program. I worked in that field for more than 20 years and developed a deep passion for helping others through tough times.
In 2017, I moved to Harbour House in Eastport and quickly noticed that there weren’t many programs or activities for kids. I started organizing small events and activities to get them engaged and give them something positive to do.
When COVID hit, I made the decision to step back from nursing. My son has a low immune system, and my grandmother was helping care for him, so it was important for me to be home. That time also pushed me deeper into community service.
Since then, I’ve worked as a community navigator for the City of Annapolis—helping residents connect to the resources they need and providing hands-on support wherever I can. I am founding board member of PlayAnnapolis, a non-profit I helped build to focus on making sports and recreation accessible for every child in our city. I’ve partnered other local organizations such as Anne Arundel Conflict Resolution Center, Charting Careers, Eastport United Methodist Church. and the Eastport Elementary PTA. I was a neighborhood liason for HACA and led outreach and navigation efforts. I continue to volunteer and give back to the community that raised me.

It will me my honor to continue this work as the Alderwoman for Ward 6.
